Job Description

An online tutoring platform in Burgersfort needs a patient tutor who can turn a failing mark into a pass. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll be based at an online tutoring platform in Burgersfort. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

The work, day to day

Run live video lessons with a headset, whiteboard app and stable connection
Assess a new learner's level with a short diagnostic test
Set practice work between sessions and check it next time
Work through past exam papers and marking memos with learners
Prepare learners for control tests with short timed practice drills
Plan sessions that target the exact topics the learner is failing

What you need

Clear, patient way of explaining ideas
Police clearance for work with minors
Distinction or strong pass in the subject you'll tutor
Currently studying at university, or holding a degree or diploma
Available at least three afternoons or evenings a week

Extra points for

Second language for learners who study in Afrikaans or isiZulu
Remedial or learning support training
