Job Description

Behind every good plate at this conference centre kitchen in Epping is a cook who preps properly, and that could be you. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a conference centre kitchen on the Epping side of Western Cape. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What your day looks like

Help cost recipes and track waste on the weekly sheet.
Run your station during service and call back every ticket from the pass.
Cook steaks, burgers and grills to the temperature on the docket.
Bake breads, pastries or desserts for the morning buffet.
Plate to the spec photo so every dish looks the same.
Train the kitchen assistants on knife safety and prep standards.
Log fridge and freezer temperatures twice a shift on the HACCP sheet.

You'll need

You know food safety basics under R638 and HACCP
You take instruction from the head chef without drama
1 to 3 years in a busy commercial kitchen
Comfortable in heat, on your feet, for long split shifts

Helpful, not essential

Stock and ordering experience on a system such as Micros or Pilot
Pastry or bakery training
