Live-In Housekeeper and Nanny

Steady household work in a family home in Roodepoort, with clear days and hours agreed upfront. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is Roodepoort-based, with most of your time spent at a family home. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Prepare simple meals or school lunches when asked
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards
• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation

• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Good with children and patient
• South African ID or valid work permit
• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine

• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires
• Transport money for live-out staff

• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
