Livestock Handler (Cattle Feedlot)

Healthy animals mean a healthy farm; on a cattle feedlot near Rustenburg, you keep them that way. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a cattle feedlot on the Rustenburg side of North West. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Check animals for illness or injury and report to the manager
• Keep water troughs and drinkers working
• Record births, deaths and treatments in the herd book
• Move animals between camps or pens calmly
• Feed animals the right ration at the right time
• Help the vet with vaccinations and treatments

• Gentle and patient with animals
• Comfortable around large animals
• Follows hygiene and biosecurity rules
• South African ID or a legal work permit
• Able to live on the farm or close by

• Supervisory experience for foreman roles
• Basic farm maintenance skills

• Production bonus on milk yield or growth targets
• Milk or meat rations
• Farm housing on site

• Stress reliability. Explain that you understand milking or feeding cannot be skipped.
• For foreman roles, mention how many workers you supervised and what you were in charge of.
