Load Planner (Road Freight)

You'll plan the loads and watch the trucks for a distribution depot in Atlantis, keeping every trip on time. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Atlantis, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day.

• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests

• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• Good with Excel and email
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office

• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
