Load Planner (Road Freight)

You'll plan the loads and watch the trucks for a road freight company in Benoni, keeping every trip on time. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a road freight company in Benoni. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity

• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office

• Previous truck driving experience
• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform
• Transport management system (TMS) experience

• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Growth to transport manager
