Load Planner (Road Freight)

Trucks, drivers, loads and deadlines all meet on your screen at a distribution depot in Germiston. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is Germiston-based, with most of your time spent at a distribution depot. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Update customers on delivery times and delays

• Matric
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office

• Knowledge of cross-border documentation
• Transport management system (TMS) experience
• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform

• Growth to transport manager
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems

• Mention the tracking and Excel skills you have. Bring an example report if you are allowed to share one.
• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
