Load Planner (Road Freight)

Trucks, drivers, loads and deadlines all meet on your screen at a distribution depot in Potchefstroom. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Home base is a distribution depot on the Potchefstroom side of North West. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers

• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• Matric
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations

• Transport management system (TMS) experience
• Knowledge of cross-border documentation

• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Office-based work with a steady roster

• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
• Mention the tracking and Excel skills you have. Bring an example report if you are allowed to share one.
