Lodge Housekeeper (Game Reserve)

You'll turn rooms around at a conference hotel in Mthatha so every guest walks into a room that feels new. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

The site is in Mthatha; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers
• Strip and make beds to the hotel's standard, hospital corners included
• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry
• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day

• Grade 10 or matric
• Well groomed
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season
• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses

• A hospitality short course or NQF Level 2 accommodation services certificate
• Previous hotel or guesthouse housekeeping experience
• Experience with industrial laundry machines

• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges

• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
• If you worked in a star-graded hotel, say which grading. It tells them the standard you already know.
