Lodge Housekeeper (Game Reserve)

Guests at a boutique guesthouse in Soweto will never meet you, but they will judge the stay by your work. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is in Soweto (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Vacuum, dust and check the minibar in each room
• Report maintenance faults like dripping taps or broken lights
• Strip and make beds to the hotel's standard, hospital corners included
• Keep your trolley stocked and neat before each shift
• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry

• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Grade 10 or matric
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season
• Well groomed

• Experience with industrial laundry machines
• A hospitality short course or NQF Level 2 accommodation services certificate
• Speaking a foreign language for tourist guests

• Staff accommodation at remote lodges
• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen

• If you worked in a star-graded hotel, say which grading. It tells them the standard you already know.
• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
