Loss Control Officer (Mall Stores)

Blend in, watch closely and act lawfully: that is loss prevention at a supermarket in Pinetown. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The work is in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Tag high-value stock and check security tags at the doors
• Check receiving bay deliveries against invoices and seal numbers
• Search staff bags at exit points according to store policy
• Record every incident with photos, times and value of goods
• Detain suspects lawfully and call SAPS, then write a statement
• Attend court as a witness when a case goes to trial
• Review CCTV footage to confirm suspected theft

• Able to handle confrontation calmly
• Discreet, observant and honest
• Available for retail hours including month-end weekends
• Good report writing
• Knowledge of lawful arrest and search under the Criminal Procedure Act
• PSIRA registration, Grade C at least
