You'll catch shoplifting and stock losses at a fashion retail store in Ballito before they cost jobs. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

  • Share trends with the store manager each week
  • Check receiving bay deliveries against invoices and seal numbers
  • Review CCTV footage to confirm suspected theft

What you need

  • Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4
  • Knowledge of lawful arrest and search under the Criminal Procedure Act
  • Good report writing

Nice if you have

  • Understanding of stock systems and shrinkage reports
  • Previous store detective experience with case outcomes
  • Retail loss prevention course

What's in it for you

  • Monthly recovery incentives
  • Plain clothes work (no uniform in detective roles)
  • Staff discount at the retailer

How to apply for this job

  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: PSIRA certificate and ID copy, matric certificate plus loss prevention or investigation course certificates.
  3. Send your details with the form below. Add one or two lines about similar work you've done.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 8 working days, usually by phone.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

How to stand out

  • Show you know the legal limits of search and arrest. A single unlawful arrest can cost a store badly, so they will ask about it.
  • Give numbers on your CV: how many cases you opened, how many led to arrests. Retail security managers trust results.
