Job Description

Blend in, watch closely and act lawfully: that is loss prevention at an electronics store in Johannesburg CBD. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is in Johannesburg CBD (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What you'll actually do

Search staff bags at exit points according to store policy
Detain suspects lawfully and call SAPS, then write a statement
Record every incident with photos, times and value of goods
Help with stock counts and point out loss hot-spots
Review CCTV footage to confirm suspected theft

You'll need

Knowledge of lawful arrest and search under the Criminal Procedure Act
PSIRA registration, Grade C at least
Available for retail hours including month-end weekends
Discreet, observant and honest

Nice if you have

Retail loss prevention course
Experience giving evidence in court
Previous store detective experience with case outcomes
