Loss Prevention Officer (Distribution Centre) – Permanent

Shrinkage hurts every electronics store; in Komani, you would be the one tracking it down. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The work is in Komani, Eastern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Walk the floor in plain clothes and watch for shoplifting behaviour
• Tag high-value stock and check security tags at the doors
• Help with stock counts and point out loss hot-spots
• Check receiving bay deliveries against invoices and seal numbers
• Search staff bags at exit points according to store policy
• Detain suspects lawfully and call SAPS, then write a statement
• Share trends with the store manager each week

• Knowledge of lawful arrest and search under the Criminal Procedure Act
• Available for retail hours including month-end weekends
• PSIRA registration, Grade C at least
• Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4

• Understanding of stock systems and shrinkage reports
• Previous store detective experience with case outcomes
• Experience giving evidence in court

• Plain clothes work (no uniform in detective roles)

• Retail trading hours, no night shift in most stores

• Show you know the legal limits of search and arrest. A single unlawful arrest can cost a store badly, so they will ask about it.
• Keep your appearance low-key for the interview. Detectives need to blend in with shoppers.
