Machine Operator (Catalytic Converter Plant)

You'll build parts or whole vehicles on a moving line at the exhaust and catalytic converter plant in Coega. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Coega-based, with most of your time spent at an exhaust and catalytic converter plant.

• Pull the andon cord when a defect or safety issue appears
• Take part in kaizen ideas to improve your station
• Assemble components at your station within the line cycle time
• Load and unload robotic welding cells safely
• Check parts for defects before they go into the vehicle

• Grade 12 certificate
• Lives close enough to reach the plant on time for every shift
• Able to pass a basic literacy and numeracy test
• Good eyesight and hand coordination
• Can follow written and visual work instructions
• Able to stand for a full shift and do repeat tasks without losing focus

• Basic computer skills
• NQF 2 in Automotive Manufacturing and Assembly through merSETA

• Shift allowance and paid overtime

• Many plants recruit through learnerships first. Watch for merSETA learnership adverts and apply early.
• Include any factory or line work you have done, even outside the car industry. It shows you can handle shift work.
