Motor Mechanic (Independent Workshop) – Immediate Start

This used car dealership workshop in Komani needs a qualified mechanic who can handle services, repairs and electrical faults. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is in Komani (Eastern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily.

• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed
• Road test vehicles before and after repairs
• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Diagnose engine, ABS and airbag faults with an OBD-II diagnostic scanner

• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• Your own basic toolbox
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams
• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars

• Air-conditioning regas experience with SAQCC Gas registration
• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training
• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience

• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates
• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Staff discount on parts and services
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer

• Do not leave gaps unexplained. Say if you were working for yourself or doing mobile repairs.
• If you hit or beat your sold-hour target, say by how much. Workshop managers love that number.
