Machine Operator (Catalytic Converter Plant) – Entry Level

The exhaust and catalytic converter plant in Johannesburg CBD needs operators who follow the standard work and speak up when something is wrong. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is an exhaust and catalytic converter plant on the Johannesburg CBD side of Gauteng. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Pull the andon cord when a defect or safety issue appears
• Rotate between stations as the team leader plans
• Assemble components at your station within the line cycle time
• Keep your station clean using 5S rules
• Load and unload robotic welding cells safely
• Take part in kaizen ideas to improve your station
• Record production counts and scrap on the shift board

• Good eyesight and hand coordination
• Can follow written and visual work instructions
• Grade 12 certificate
• Willing to work rotating shifts, including nights
• Lives close enough to reach the plant on time for every shift
• Able to stand for a full shift and do repeat tasks without losing focus

• NQF 2 in Automotive Manufacturing and Assembly through merSETA
• Previous experience in an automotive plant

• Staff canteen with subsidised meals
• Transport from nearby townships on some routes
• Shift allowance and paid overtime

• Include any factory or line work you have done, even outside the car industry. It shows you can handle shift work.
