Maintenance Artisan (Shopping Centre) – Immediate Start

You'll fix what breaks and prevent what might, around the shopping centre in Durban Central. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Home base is a shopping centre on the Durban Central side of KwaZulu-Natal. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Hang doors, fit locks and adjust sliding door rails
• Check fire extinguishers, emergency lights and escape routes on a monthly checklist
• Work through the maintenance log each morning and prioritise urgent requests
• Service pool pumps, gate motors and garage door openers
• Change globes, fluorescent tubes and plug covers (no DB work)
• Get quotes from outside contractors and let them in for bigger jobs

• Code 08 licence to run errands to the hardware store
• Available for the occasional weekend emergency
• Basic painting, tiling, plumbing and carpentry skills
• At least 2 years of general building maintenance work you can back up with references

• Training on specialised equipment like gate motors and pool plant
• Meals on duty at hotel sites
• Uniform and safety boots supplied
