Maintenance Electrician (Night Shift)

You'll wire, fault-find and certify installations for the solar and backup power installer in Alberton. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a solar and backup power installer in Alberton. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1
• Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
• Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
• Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows
• Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls
• Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language

• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
• Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
• Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
• At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence

• N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test
• PLC and motor control experience from a factory setting
• Working at Heights certificate still in date

• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster
• Company bakkie for call-outs and travel between sites
• Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year
• Provident fund and group risk cover after probation
