Maintenance Technician (Electro-Mechanical)

The packaging manufacturer in Atlantis needs an artisan who can fix a breakdown fast and machine a part when needed. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Home base is a packaging manufacturer on the Atlantis side of Western Cape. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems on production lines
• Follow the lockout procedure before any work on machinery
• Inspect and adjust conveyors, chains and sprockets
• Help with electrical fault-finding on motors and sensors as a millwright
• Align shafts with a laser alignment tool after every drive change
• Record work and spares used on the job card or CMMS

• You read engineering drawings and measure with micrometers and verniers
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop
• Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
• Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• N2 or N3 engineering subjects

• Expect a practical test. Measure twice and work cleanly, because the assessor watches your habits as much as the result.
• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
