Maintenance Technician (Electro-Mechanical) – Immediate Start

Planned maintenance and breakdown work on shift at the general engineering workshop in Ballito. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a general engineering workshop on the Ballito side of KwaZulu-Natal. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Follow the lockout procedure before any work on machinery
• Align shafts with a laser alignment tool after every drive change
• Inspect and adjust conveyors, chains and sprockets
• Replace bearings, seals and couplings on pumps, gearboxes and motors
• Respond to breakdowns and get the line running again safely

• Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
• You read engineering drawings and measure with micrometers and verniers
• N2 or N3 engineering subjects
• Own basic hand tools, or willing to build up a set
• Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop

• Millwright trade test, since it covers both mechanical and electrical
• Hydraulic and pneumatic courses

• Paid overtime on shutdowns
• Shift and standby allowances
• Chance to study further toward a technician diploma

• Expect a practical test. Measure twice and work cleanly, because the assessor watches your habits as much as the result.
• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
