Mall Control Room Operator

From a chair in a remote video monitoring centre in Fourways, you guide officers in the field to where they are needed. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

The work is in Fourways, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change
• Talk down intruders over on-site speakers when the system allows
• Monitor live CCTV feeds and zoom in on suspicious movement
• Pull and save video footage for incident investigations
• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Log every event and action on the monitoring software
• Report camera faults and offline sites to the technicians

• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone
• Able to stay focused through 12-hour day and night shifts
• Good memory for sites, streets and procedures
• PSIRA registration, Grade C or higher

• Experience on a CCTV or alarm monitoring platform
• CCTV operator short course

• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment
• Shift allowance for nights
• Path to senior controller or supervisor

• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
• Show you can stay alert at night. If you have done night shift before without problems, say so.
