From a chair in a shopping mall security office in George, you guide officers in the field to where they are needed. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Location: George, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

• Log every event and action on the monitoring software
• Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change
• Talk down intruders over on-site speakers when the system allows
• Track stolen vehicles on the map and guide recovery teams
• Report camera faults and offline sites to the technicians

• Computer literate and quick on a keyboard
• PSIRA registration, Grade C or higher
• Good memory for sites, streets and procedures
• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone
• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)

• CCTV operator short course
• Speaking more than one local language

• Shift allowance for nights
• Training on the monitoring software
• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment
• Path to senior controller or supervisor

• Show you can stay alert at night. If you have done night shift before without problems, say so.
• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
