Night or day, a remote video monitoring centre in Kathu never switches off, and neither does your focus on shift. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The work is in Kathu, Northern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Keep call-out times and client passwords up to date
• Track stolen vehicles on the map and guide recovery teams
• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Pull and save video footage for incident investigations
• Talk down intruders over on-site speakers when the system allows
• Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change
• Log every event and action on the monitoring software

• Computer literate and quick on a keyboard
• Matric
• Able to stay focused through 12-hour day and night shifts
• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone

• Shift allowance for nights
• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment
• Training on the monitoring software
• Path to senior controller or supervisor

• Show you can stay alert at night. If you have done night shift before without problems, say so.
• Mention any software you have used: alarm monitoring, CCTV or even call centre systems. Control rooms need people who learn screens fast.
