Job Description

Good factory hands stay for years, and this meat processing plant in Alberton trains from day one. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is in Alberton (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

What your day looks like

  • Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
  • Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
  • Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
  • Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
  • Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
  • Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
  • Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers

You'll need

  • Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
  • Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
  • You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
  • Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
  • No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection

Extra points for

  • Previous work in a food or FMCG factory
  • NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
  • Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine

On offer

  • Company transport on some night shifts
  • Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay
  • Staff shop with discounted factory products
  • Path to machine operator after six months

Applying, step by step

  1. Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: your latest school results or matric certificate, ID copy, certified within the last three months plus CV listing any factory or packing work, even short-term.
  3. Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
  4. Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 5 working days.

How2Apply recruits for this position on behalf of hiring employers around Alberton; applications go into our talent pool and shortlisted candidates are introduced directly.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

Tips to get shortlisted

  • Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
  • Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
