Site Labourer (Concrete Crew) – Entry Level

Every wall and slab on this road rehabilitation project in Midrand needs labourers, and the crew needs one more. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at a road rehabilitation project in Midrand. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes
• Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
• Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
• Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
• Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor

• Grade 8 or higher
• A clean record is preferred for some government sites
• Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather

• Some experience with a jackhammer, grinder or plate compactor
• Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
• Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database

• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
• Paid weekly or fortnightly
• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant

• Government-funded projects often reserve jobs for people from the local ward. Bring proof of address and ask the site office about the local labour desk.
• List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
