Job Description

Good factory hands stay for years, and this meat processing plant in Brackenfell trains from day one. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a meat processing plant in Brackenfell. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What you'll actually do

  • Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
  • Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
  • Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
  • Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
  • Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product

You'll need

  • Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
  • You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
  • No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
  • Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
  • Neat, reliable and on time for shift start

Helpful, not essential

  • Some basic first-aid training
  • Previous work in a food or FMCG factory
