Meat Processing Line Worker

Machines set the pace at this soft drink bottling plant in Pinetown; you keep up and catch the faults. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

The site is in Pinetown; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
• Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley

• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage

• NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
• Previous work in a food or FMCG factory

• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
• Path to machine operator after six months
• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay

• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
• Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
