Meat Processing Line Worker

You'll keep the line running at a meat processing plant in Randburg, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at a meat processing plant in Randburg. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
• Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages

• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check

• A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
• NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
• Some basic first-aid training

• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Path to machine operator after six months
