Job Description

Good factory hands stay for years, and this industrial bakery in Rosslyn trains from day one. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

The work is in Rosslyn, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

  • Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
  • Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
  • Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
  • Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
  • Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines

What you need

  • Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
  • Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
  • You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
  • Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
  • Available for rotating day and night shifts
  • Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area

Nice if you have

  • Previous work in a food or FMCG factory
  • NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed

What you get

  • Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
  • Company transport on some night shifts
  • Path to machine operator after six months
  • Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay

Applying, step by step

  1. Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: your latest school results or matric certificate plus ID copy, certified within the last three months.
  3. Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
  4. Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 8 working days.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Rosslyn.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

How to stand out

  • Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
  • Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
