Job Description

You'll keep the line running at a furniture assembly factory in Vanderbijlpark, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The site is in Vanderbijlpark; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What your day looks like

  • Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
  • Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
  • Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
  • Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
  • Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
  • Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
  • Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects

What you need

  • You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
  • Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
  • Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
  • No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
  • Neat, reliable and on time for shift start

Extra points for

  • NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
  • A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
  • Previous work in a food or FMCG factory

On offer

  • Path to machine operator after six months
  • Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
  • Staff shop with discounted factory products

How2Apply recruits for this position on behalf of hiring employers around Vanderbijlpark; applications go into our talent pool and shortlisted candidates are introduced directly.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

Before you hit apply

  • Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
  • Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
