Mechanical Design Engineer (Materials Handling)

You'll keep the plant reliable and improve how it runs at the paper and packaging mill in Lephalale. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a paper and packaging mill on the Lephalale side of Limpopo. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Manage shutdowns: planning, spares, contractors and safe restart
• Check pressure vessels for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations and SANS 347
• Run vibration, thermography and oil analysis programmes on critical equipment
• Hold the GMR 2.1 appointment and keep machinery safety legal on site
• Analyse breakdowns with root cause methods and fix the cause, not the symptom
• Write scopes of work and compare contractor quotes

• BEng or BSc Eng in Mechanical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist roles
• Confident with 3D CAD software and engineering calculations
• Three or more years working as a qualified engineer, in industry or consulting
• Registered with ECSA as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate, depending on level
• Able to manage contractors and budgets

• Experience with SAP PM for maintenance
• Government Certificate of Competency (Mechanical, Factories)
• Project management certificate
