Mechanical Engineer (Plant Maintenance) – Fixed-Term

This materials handling equipment manufacturer in Prospecton needs a mechanical engineer who is as comfortable on the plant floor as in the design office. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Prospecton-based, with most of your time spent at a materials handling equipment manufacturer.

• Manage shutdowns: planning, spares, contractors and safe restart
• Prepare the maintenance budget and report monthly on spend
• Design conveyors, chutes and structures in SolidWorks or Inventor
• Hold the GMR 2.1 appointment and keep machinery safety legal on site
• Mentor candidate engineers and artisans on technical problems
• Check pressure vessels for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations and SANS 347

• Able to manage contractors and budgets
• BEng or BSc Eng in Mechanical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist roles
• Three or more years working as a qualified engineer, in industry or consulting
• Working knowledge of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations
• Confident with 3D CAD software and engineering calculations

• Finite element analysis skills
• Government Certificate of Competency (Mechanical, Factories)
