Mechanical Engineering Technologist (Projects) – Fixed-Term

You'll keep the plant reliable and improve how it runs at the petrochemical plant in Midrand. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Home base is a petrochemical plant on the Midrand side of Gauteng. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Write scopes of work and compare contractor quotes
• Hold the GMR 2.1 appointment and keep machinery safety legal on site
• Sign off modifications and keep drawings and records current
• Design conveyors, chutes and structures in SolidWorks or Inventor
• Check pressure vessels for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations and SANS 347
• Run vibration, thermography and oil analysis programmes on critical equipment

• Working knowledge of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations
• BEng or BSc Eng in Mechanical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist roles
• Able to manage contractors and budgets
• Code 08 licence for site visits
• Registered with ECSA as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate, depending on level

• Finite element analysis skills
• Project management certificate
• Experience with SAP PM for maintenance
