Mechanical Fitter (Shutdowns) – Immediate Start

The plastics injection moulding factory in Worcester needs an artisan who can fix a breakdown fast and machine a part when needed. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is a plastics injection moulding factory on the Worcester side of Western Cape. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Follow the lockout procedure before any work on machinery
• Build and repair press tools, jigs and moulds
• Inspect and adjust conveyors, chains and sprockets
• Respond to breakdowns and get the line running again safely
• Machine shafts, bushes and keyways on a lathe and milling machine

• Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop
• You read engineering drawings and measure with micrometers and verniers
• Own basic hand tools, or willing to build up a set

• Millwright trade test, since it covers both mechanical and electrical
• Forklift licence for moving heavy parts
• CNC programming experience

• Paid overtime on shutdowns
• Chance to study further toward a technician diploma
• Tool allowance

• Expect a practical test. Measure twice and work cleanly, because the assessor watches your habits as much as the result.
• Write your trade and trade test year first, then the machines you know, like "Filling lines, pumps, gearboxes".
