Mechanised Development Miner (Trackless)

You'll lead a crew safely through drilling, blasting and cleaning at the mechanised hard-rock mine near Sandton. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Location: Sandton, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

• Hold a start-of-shift safety talk and deal with any unsafe condition
• Test for flammable gas and check ventilation before and after blasting
• Report misfires straight away and handle them strictly by the procedure
• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows
• Charge up holes and connect initiation systems for the blast

• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station, including heat tolerance screening where required
• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards
• Able to lead a crew of 8 to 20 people in a language they understand
• No serious safety transgressions in your record

• Experience in trackless mechanised sections
• Rock engineering or ventilation short courses
• First aid certificate current

• List each mine, commodity and mining method on your CV, like "conventional stoping, platinum, 4 years".
• Be honest about any section 54 stoppages you were involved in and what you changed after.
