MIG Welder (Trailer Manufacturing) – Permanent

You'll cut, fit and weld steel to drawing in a busy structural steel fabrication workshop in Rustenburg. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

The site is in Rustenburg; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Sign off your weld map and traceability sheets for each spool
• Read fabrication drawings and cutting lists before you mark out plate
• Fit up beams, columns and bracing with the correct gaps and alignment
• Set up MIG and flux-cored machines for long production runs
• TIG weld stainless steel tanks and fittings with proper back-purging
• Prepare joints for radiographic and dye penetrant testing
• Cut and bevel plate with oxy-fuel, plasma and a bevelling machine

• Medical fitness certificate for industrial sites, or willing to get one
• You can read fabrication and isometric drawings without help
• Valid welder coding to ISO 9606-1 or ASME IX in the processes the job needs
• Boilermaker or welder trade test certificate, or current SAIW welder qualification

• Orbital or automatic welding experience
• Experience on structural work to AWS D1.1

• Coding renewals paid by the employer
• Accommodation and meals paid on out-of-town shutdowns
• Leather welding PPE and auto-darkening helmet supplied
• Shutdown bonus and site allowance for work away from home

• If you have worked shutdowns, name the type of plant, like refinery or sugar mill. It proves you know the site rules.
• Expired codings are the number one reason welders are turned away at the gate. Check dates before you apply.
