Mine Bus Driver (Shift Transport)

You'll carry passengers safely around Cape Town CBD for a school transport operator, on time and by the timetable. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Cape Town CBD-based, with most of your time spent at a school transport operator.

• Check passenger tickets, tags or staff cards when boarding
• Give tourists a friendly welcome and help with luggage on charters
• Keep the bus clean inside and report any damage
• Handle breakdowns calmly and keep passengers safe until help arrives
• Count passengers and make sure nobody stands beyond the limit
• Inspect the bus before each trip: tyres, brakes, doors, emergency exits
• Pick up and drop off schoolchildren only at approved points

• Clean driving and criminal record
• At least 3 years of bus or taxi driving
• Medically fit
• Patient and friendly with passengers
• Valid Code 10 or Code 14 licence

• Experience on mine or staff transport routes
• First-aid certificate
• Fluent in more than one language

• Tips and trip allowances on tour charters
• Split-shift allowance on staff transport routes
• Company uniform

• Mention the number of passengers you have driven and the vehicle type, like "65-seater" or "22-seater midibus".
• Write "PrDP P valid until" with the date, right at the top of your CV. It is the first thing a bus operator checks.
