Miner (Blasting Certificate, Underground Stoping) – Fixed-Term

You'll lead a crew safely through drilling, blasting and cleaning at the deep-level gold mine near Bellville. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at a deep-level gold mine in Bellville. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Stop work when a condition is unsafe, using your right to withdraw
• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows
• Hold a start-of-shift safety talk and deal with any unsafe condition
• Mark off drilling holes to the standard pattern and check the drilling
• Report misfires straight away and handle them strictly by the procedure

• Valid blasting certificate issued under the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards
• At least 3 years underground, with at least 1 as a certificated miner
• Grade 12 or equivalent, plus the MQA-accredited miner training
• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station, including heat tolerance screening where required

• Production bonus based on metres or square metres achieved
• Pension fund with employer contributions
• Housing or living-out allowance
• Medical aid and mine medical station access

• Write your blasting certificate number and date of issue near the top of the CV.
• List each mine, commodity and mining method on your CV, like "conventional stoping, platinum, 4 years".
