Miner (Blasting Certificate, Underground Stoping) – Fixed-Term

This underground coal colliery near Brits needs a miner who makes every workplace safe before a single hole is drilled. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at an underground coal colliery in Brits. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows
• Test for flammable gas and check ventilation before and after blasting
• Hold a start-of-shift safety talk and deal with any unsafe condition
• Report misfires straight away and handle them strictly by the procedure
• Record face advance, tons broken and support installed on the shift report

• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station, including heat tolerance screening where required
• At least 3 years underground, with at least 1 as a certificated miner
• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards
• Valid blasting certificate issued under the Mine Health and Safety Act

• Shift Supervisor certificate or Mine Overseer learning
• Experience in trackless mechanised sections

• Production bonus based on metres or square metres achieved
• Medical aid and mine medical station access
• Underground allowance for every shift below surface
• Housing or living-out allowance

• Be honest about any section 54 stoppages you were involved in and what you changed after.
• Write your blasting certificate number and date of issue near the top of the CV.
