Miner (Blasting Certificate, Underground Stoping)

Have a blasting certificate and a clean safety record? The underground coal colliery near Mahikeng needs your crew leadership. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Location: Mahikeng, North West. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Test for flammable gas and check ventilation before and after blasting
• Book explosives in and out of the magazine and keep the register accurate
• Record face advance, tons broken and support installed on the shift report
• Report misfires straight away and handle them strictly by the procedure
• Hold a start-of-shift safety talk and deal with any unsafe condition

• No serious safety transgressions in your record
• At least 3 years underground, with at least 1 as a certificated miner
• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards
• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station, including heat tolerance screening where required
• Able to lead a crew of 8 to 20 people in a language they understand
• Valid blasting certificate issued under the Mine Health and Safety Act

• Rock engineering or ventilation short courses
• Shift Supervisor certificate or Mine Overseer learning

• Underground allowance for every shift below surface
• Pension fund with employer contributions
• Housing or living-out allowance
• Medical aid and mine medical station access

• List each mine, commodity and mining method on your CV, like "conventional stoping, platinum, 4 years".
• Mines check your safety record with previous employers. Mention any safety awards or zero-harm periods your crew achieved.
