Mobile Crane Operator (Up to 50 Ton)

You'll move earth, dig trenches and shape roads for the pipeline and trenching company in Klerksdorp. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is in Klerksdorp (North West). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Do the pre-start checklist on your machine before the first bucket
• Load tipper trucks without spillage or overloading
• Dig trenches for pipes and cables to the depth and grade set by the surveyor
• Watch for underground services and follow the banksman's signals
• Cut and trim road layers to level with the grader
• Park the machine on level ground and lock it when you knock off

• Good depth perception and no history of machine accidents
• At least 2 years operating the machine on construction sites
• Valid Code 10 licence for moving machines on public roads
• Operator certificate for the machine class, from an accredited training provider
• Willing to work on projects outside your home town
• Can read grade pegs and understand cut and fill

• PrDP for tipper or lowbed work
• GPS machine control experience on excavators or graders

• Camp accommodation or a living-out allowance on remote sites
• Overtime paid on all hours past 45 a week
• Refresher training on new machines

• Put your operator certificate numbers on the CV. Site safety files need them before you start.
• List each machine with its size, for example "20-ton excavator, 4 years". Plant managers match you to the machine they need.
