Paving Layer (Interlocking Pavers)

Good, straight work gets noticed on this housing development site in Potchefstroom, and so does turning up every day. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

This post is in Potchefstroom (North West). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Plaster walls and float them to a smooth, even finish
• Cut, bend and tie reinforcing steel to the bending schedule
• Build and strip formwork for columns, beams and slabs
• Mix mortar and plaster to the right ratio for the job
• Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings
• Lay paving on a compacted, levelled bedding sand layer

• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
• Punctual every morning, even in winter
• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible
• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements

• Your own trowels, levels and tile cutter
• CETA or NQF 2 or 3 certificate in your trade

• Chance to move up to a gang leader post
• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time
• UIF and COIDA registration from day one
• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest

• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
• Say which trade you are strongest in first. "Bricklayer, 6 years, face brick" is better than "general construction".
