Mobile Crane Operator (Up to 50 Ton)

Real machine hours on real projects, with the pipeline and trenching company working in and around Pretoria East. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Location: Pretoria East, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Grease the machine daily and report leaks or damage straight away
• Record machine hours and fuel on the daily plant sheet
• Park the machine on level ground and lock it when you knock off
• Load tipper trucks without spillage or overloading
• Compact layers with the roller until density tests pass
• Do the pre-start checklist on your machine before the first bucket

• Good depth perception and no history of machine accidents
• Operator certificate for the machine class, from an accredited training provider
• Can read grade pegs and understand cut and fill
• At least 2 years operating the machine on construction sites
• Medical certificate of fitness for operating mobile plant

• GPS machine control experience on excavators or graders
• Basic plant maintenance or mechanical knowledge

• Overtime paid on all hours past 45 a week
• Refresher training on new machines
• Travel home paid at the end of each site shift cycle
• Camp accommodation or a living-out allowance on remote sites

• You will likely do a practical test on the machine. Do the walk-around check out loud. It shows you work safely.
• List each machine with its size, for example "20-ton excavator, 4 years". Plant managers match you to the machine they need.
