Job Description

Here your code runs in production, not in a drawer: an insurance company software team in Pietermaritzburg. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Home base is an insurance company software team on the Pietermaritzburg side of KwaZulu-Natal. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What you'll actually do

Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries

Must-haves

Experience writing automated tests
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days

Extra points for

Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
Public GitHub portfolio or published app
Docker and Kubernetes experience
