Montessori Assistant (Casa Class)

Little ones at a community creche in Upington learn through play, and you'll set up that play. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

The site is in Upington; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Watch children closely outside and keep the play area safe
• Set up daily learning areas for art, blocks, reading and fantasy play
• Help aftercare learners with homework and reading
• Clean and sanitise toys, mats and tables at the end of the day
• Chat to parents at drop-off and pick-up about how the day went
• Run morning ring with songs, weather and counting

• Matric
• Able to follow hygiene and safety routines without cutting corners
• ECD Level 4 or Level 5 qualification, or currently studying towards one
• Paediatric first aid certificate
• Clear Form 30 child protection check and police clearance

• Basic music, art or movement skills for group activities
• Speak more than one home language of the children you'll teach
• Experience with children with special needs

• Put your ECD level and first aid certificate in the first lines of your CV; creches check these before anything else.
• Apply for the Form 30 check early, as it can take weeks and many creches won't appoint without it.
