Motor Mechanic (Independent Workshop)

Good with a scan tool and a torque wrench? This used car dealership workshop in Johannesburg CBD needs you in a bay. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

The site is in Johannesburg CBD; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed
• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering
• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts

• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams
• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
• Your own basic toolbox

• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience
• Brand-specific training certificates from a manufacturer academy
