Motor Mechanic (Independent Workshop)

Good with a scan tool and a torque wrench? This fast-fit tyre and service centre in Sandton needs you in a bay. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll report in Sandton. Relocation is not covered for this one. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering
• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Diagnose engine, ABS and airbag faults with an OBD-II diagnostic scanner
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services

• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams
• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Your own basic toolbox

• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training
• Brand-specific training certificates from a manufacturer academy

• Productivity bonus on sold hours above target
• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates

• If you hit or beat your sold-hour target, say by how much. Workshop managers love that number.
