Motor Mechanic (Independent Workshop)

This used car dealership workshop in Secunda needs a qualified mechanic who can handle services, repairs and electrical faults. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is in Secunda (Mpumalanga). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted
• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay

• Your own basic toolbox
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams

• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training
• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience

• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer
• Productivity bonus on sold hours above target
• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates

• Do not leave gaps unexplained. Say if you were working for yourself or doing mobile repairs.
• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
