Multi-Skilled Maintenance Hand (Retirement Village)

Every day is different here: small repairs, painting and planned maintenance at the shopping centre in Durban Central. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Durban Central-based, with most of your time spent at a shopping centre. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Lay and repair floor tiles and re-grout wet areas
• Hang doors, fit locks and adjust sliding door rails
• Service pool pumps, gate motors and garage door openers
• Patch, sand and paint walls, doors and ceilings between tenants
• Keep the maintenance store tidy and track stock used

• Your own tools are a plus, but safe tool handling is a must
• At least 2 years of general building maintenance work you can back up with references
• Available for the occasional weekend emergency
• Code 08 licence to run errands to the hardware store

• Gate motor and intercom repair skills
• Pool and borehole pump experience
• Experience with a work order system on a phone app

• Uniform and safety boots supplied
• Training on specialised equipment like gate motors and pool plant
• On-site accommodation at some estates
• Meals on duty at hotel sites

• Do not claim electrical work you are not licensed to sign off. Say "basic electrical, no DB work" instead.
